February Just Happened

Saturday, March 4, 2017

February just happened. And now it’s MARCH (and I am now somehow fifteen?!?!). Let’s get nostalgic and take a quick look at February, shall we?

  • More snow!!! Which means salted caramel hot chocolate, snowmen, wet gloves, and snowball fights. And then it melted…
  • The Super Bowl. THE SUPER BOWL. Every year, my family makes a ton of junk food and we watch the game. This year’s game… It was one of the most epic comebacks I’ve watched, besides the 2016 World Series, that is. And speaking of….
  • SPRING TRAINING BEGAN GUYS SPRING TRAINING BEGAN THE CUBS ARE BACK!!!!!! My life is complete.
  • I have been attempting to teach myself photography.... And so far have deleted every picture I've taken. Don't worry, I WILL SUCCEED. Somehow...
  • My Bible Study leader is out of town, and I got to lead our study for one week. *cue gasps* I actually didn’t do too bad. I think.
  • I somehow have... 28 followers?! *hugs you guys* Y'all are the best!

So… Editing on Runaway has come to a standstill. Why? Well, there’s this new story that has captured my attention, with components of both Runaway AND A Sleep So Deep. I can’t (or won’t) turn away from this story, so I may be pursuing it and setting Runaway and A Sleep So Deep aside. I’m still prayerfully considering making this drastic move and am figuring out the mechanics of this new story.

Let’s just say I know I can’t do the whole read 100 books challenge... *hides face* But I have read some great books this month.

The Language of Sparrows by Rachel Phifer

This book… OH MY GOODNESS ALL THE FEELS!!! This is one of the sweetest, most heart wrenching stories I have laid eyes on. GO READ IT NOW.

Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen

*sighs happily* Jane Austen, you’ve done it again. I started out not liking this novel a lot, and by the end I was screaming about how much I loved it. Don’t just watch the movie (although it's great too), read the book.

Girl Defined by Bethany Baird and Kristen Clark

*doesn’t mention that I’m still reading this one* If I had to describe this book with one word, the word would be RADICAL. This book on Biblical womanhood is totally contrary to what our culture says, not to mention a must read for every woman of any age. I plan on (hopefully) reviewing it pretty soon, so stay tuned.

The Choosing by Rachelle Dekker

Honestly, I was really looking forward to this book. I had pre-ordered the entire series. It’s not bad, it’s just… Not everything I was expecting it to be. It was still a good read, though.

How was YOUR February? Tell me one thing about it! Did you get any snow? Watch the Super Bowl? Flail about spring training? CAN YOU GET “HOW FAR I’LL GO” OUT OF YOUR HEAD?!?! Let’s grab some cocoa and chat!

    1. Thanks, Gray! I love his music too! Sure, his songs are catchy, but I love that he's real. He's raw. He doesn't plaster a smile on his face and pretend everything is alright. Have you seen the music video for "How Could You Leave Us"? It's SO sad.

Aw, thanks! =) I really just make my playlists with some of my favorite songs of the month.

I had a birthday on March 3-and now I'm somehow old enough to learn to drive (question mark because I can't believe it)?

  3. Ooh, new novel ideas are the best! And AGH HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Haha, I want to learn photography, but 1) I have no camera, and 2) I am bound to fail. OOH HOW FAR I'LL GO MOANA YAY. Plus Lin-Manuel Miranda. <3 I like the original version though, but Alessia Cara's voice is amazing.

  7. Happy birthday!! It sounds like you had a good month! All the best with your new story ideas, and photography! (Persevere, girl! You learn something from every shot you take.) And you get snow! Sometimes I wish I lived in a place that got snow - it's so pretty.

  8. HAPPY (belated) BIRTHDAY, MICAIAH! *all the hugs and cake*

February was amazing - and one of the best things I did was write out my entire writing plan for this year, from beginning to betas to editors xD. I'm hoping to have Killing Snow ready for publication by the end of this year. And OOH, you thought of a new story idea? That's SO cool! I can't wait to see where you go with it :D.

    5. Thank you! I'll be stalking you too. =) I'm not yet part of a cabin, are you?

    6. Not officially, no - but I was planning on starting an official one. It'll be private, so I can control who gets in (normally the cabins randomly throw people together). Any chance you'd like to join?

  9. Uncle Eric and I were able to go out to dinner one night this February, just the two of us, and it was grand! I really enjoyed myself. We did not get any snow in February OR January, and I still can't believe it. We did, however, already get some snow in March and we are only 5 days in! Lol. I did watch the superbowl and it was a heck of a comeback! I actually was able to watch it with Grandpa and Lola because they were in town for Elijah's bday party and my bday! It was fun. We ate burgers made by Grandpa. I am SUPER EXCITED about spring training and can't wait to start watching the good ole Cubbies again! I can't believe you're 15!

  14. YESSS MESSAGE MAN, I LOVE THAT SONG.

Oh my goodness, happy (really late) fifteenth birthday! I hope you have a wonderful year <3

SNOW, YES. I'm super disappointed that we didn't get a lot of snow where I live this year, but at least we had a white Christmas. And the warm weather now is kind of nice :)

I've been thinking of reading Sense and Sensibility! And I've heard lots of good things about Girl Defined; I'll be interested to hear your thoughts. Some of the books I read this February were Dickey Downey by Virginia Sharpe Patterson, Constable & Toop by Gareth P. Jones, and Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen. :)
