March Just Happened

Sunday, March 26, 2017

March just happened. And what a month it was! It was a rainy month, but a great month for writing, salted caramel everything, and research. Let's reminisce a bit, shall we?

·  I turned fifteen and my mom made the most epic cake EVER. Chocolate cake with salted caramel frosting. Yes, I just typed that. And yes, I ate more of it than I should have.
On a hike with my siblings and our dog.
· IT STOPPED RAINING FOR ONCE. For about two days, that is. And since the sun finally decided to show her face, my family took two amazing hikes. And now it’s back to rain…
· Daylight Savings happened. I. Miss. My. Extra. Hour. Of. Sleep. And extra hour to read away, of course.

I signed my new novel up for Camp Nanowrimo! And now I am in the most awesome cabin ever with a goal of 24,000 words this month. The novel’s name? Well, it’s temporarily Hiraeth, but knowing me, it'll probably change.

Here is the mock cover, which is also subject to change. xD
And because of Camp Nano, I’m going to be taking a blogging break this April. PLEASE DON’T BE MAD AT ME I’LL BE BACK IN MAY. Also… 43 GFC followers?!?!? You guys rock!

Oh, and be sure to check out my post on the Girldefined blog. And while you're there, be sure to browse their other posts.

Wow, I really haven’t read much this past month. I have been doing a lot of historical research for Camp Nano, so I haven’t had as much time. I’m currently reading Child of the Mountains by Marilyn Sue Shank, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, and Kisses From Katie by Katie Davis (read about my own Uganda adventures here), and they are all lovely books that I definitely recommend. I suppose the only two fictional books I’ve actually finished so far are Found by Audrey Caylin and For Love and Honor. Read my review for that amazing novel here, and check out Audrey’s epic blog here.

Well, that was my month in a nut shell for you. Now tell me, how was YOUR March? Did you eat any cake or get any rain? Who’s your favorite college basketball team? Do YOU love historical fiction? Will you be participating in Camp Nanowrimo? If so, tell me about your project!

  1. All your siblings are so cute! That mock cover is awesome. I've never actually done NaNo. I was thinking of doing it this camp NaNo this in April, but I'm honestly too busy with theatre. Mmm, that cake looks good. Poor you, that is too much rain!

    1. Thank you! =) Oh, you should definitely do Camp Nano in July then! I hope theatre is going well. =) It is too much rain, and I have a feeling there will be more rain again, judging by the clouds...

    2. You're very welcome! Theatre is going very well:) I'm actually playing Wendy in Peter Pan right now, which I'm so excited about. We actually had some rain today, but living in New Mexico means clouds and rain are rare.

  3. Happy late birthday Micaiah! That cake looks fantastic!
It's good to hear that I am not the only one who has been messed up by daylight savings! Someday perhaps I'll move to Arizona where they don't do it. :)
Good luck with your NaNo novel! The cover looks great right now!

It's good to hear that too! =) Oh yes, Arizona! More sleep... Although it might be too hot and dry for me there. I suppose I'll have to do with time changes. xD

      Thank you! =)

We have a brindle colored boxer. He's pretty old, so he's more grey than brindle now. He's still the cutest puppy in the world in my eyes. =)

I'm not the only one! *hands you umbrella for future rain*

    SALTED CARAMEL IS THE BEST.
And your mock cover, When I first glanced at it I mistook it for a real book cover because wow, it's just so pretty.
It's been raining non-stop here too, just when I think it's done and I go outside to get pictures my camera gets rained on. XD

I might have to try it, but I always (ALWAYS) have the same cake for my B-day. I fell in love with lemon jello cake when I was around seven xD

    1. Aw thanks, Audrey! =) *is terrified to drive* I think I'll stick to my own two legs... xD IT WAS SO GOOD. All my favorites in one... Oh, lemon jello cake! That sounds too good. I almost always switch up my birthday cake, although the past couple years I've done red or blue velvet cake. This year, I knew I MUST have caramel. And chocolate. And salt. And ice cream on the side. xD

      THANK YOU SO MUCH.

      Aw, you're welcome! I'm glad it's been helpful! =)

  10. Your blog is beautiful, Micaiah!

I need a piece of that cake!! Right. Now.

It actually rained really hard last night and even haled. It was really loud but because I was so tired I didn't fully wake up. xD

I'm doing Camp Nano Wrimo this April!! I will be going back to my very first book ever! I'm so excited to get back to my baby.

I read about half of Child of the Mountains. Let me know how it ends. I am that person that needs the books really interesting to keep it up. I barely ever finish books...
My dad recently bought me Kisses From Katie but I haven't got the courage up to start it yet. ;)

  11. My March is going pretty awesome so far! I read A LOT (or at least more than I did in February), so I'm proud of that! However, I didn't get all the things done that I wanted to writing-wise, so that's no fun. :/ And omg that cake looks so good GIVE IT TO MEEEEE. And AGH, Hiraeth is such a good title???

  17. Happy late birthday girl! That cake made my mouth water <3<3 Just love salted caramel man. My sister and dad and like four of my friends had birthdays this month as well, so YES I had cake this March!! No salted caramel *whines* but I did have some good ones. :)) How does it feel to be 15?? Are you planning on getting your drivers permit? It's strange growing up. It's like.. exciting, but like WHERE DID MY CHILD RUN OFF TO?

I don't plan on it yet, for now, I'll stick to my own two feet. xD I KNOW I FEEL EXACTLY LIKE YOU.
